Fautanu is another demonstration of the offensive line quality in 2024. He is awesome.

Between now and April, I plan on looking at as many prospects as I can for the 2024 Draft and will spend 200 snaps with each of them and then share my thoughts with you. I don’t claim to be some high draft authority and will have plenty of missed evaluations, but I watch each of these guys as best I can. I still think it is better to do the work than to shrug and say “nobody knows.” Each of these profiles will be short, but I will attempt to provide a thumbnail sketch as well as some information and videos (borrowed from twitter) to expedite our project.

Today’s we look at the very imposing left tackle from Washington, Troy Fautanu.

#55 - OL Troy Fautanu - Junior - Age 23 - 6’4 - 317 - Washington

Fautanu has been a real joy to look at for this draft as we got to know him down the stretch as his Washington Huskies offensive line started getting our attention with their performance and awards.

Fautanu has really put some great tape out there and I find him incredibly impressive. He has played four seasons at left tackle, with 2019 being a red-shirt year, 2020 and 2021 being mostly reserve action and development, and then starting in 2022 and 2023.

In 2023, he was All Pac 12 and the Morris Trophy Winner for best OL in the Pac 12 (RIP) and played in 2,155 snaps - almost all at LT, with just a few at LG. He is largely thought of as a guy who won’t have to wait very long on draft weekend in Detroit, that is for sure.

A quick confession here, I am all about the large and in charge offensive line guys who have a mean streak and attitude and seem to find great pleasure in bullying the defense and lighting up defenders just because its fun. I think this might be a short-coming for me in that I overlook other details because he seems like a tone-setter, so just want to tell you that I love guys like this as a general rule. He has wonderful natural tools and has the ability to stay at tackle, I believe. We will need to get a solid measurement on his arms, but the 34 3/4 that has been claimed is more than enough to stay at tackle if they would wish.
