2024 NFL Draft Profile - Michigan's Kris Jenkins
Yes, we are going back to Michigan and Bruce Feldman's Freak List for a DT prospect.
Let’s keep going on our trip through the top defensive tackles and grab this Michigan man and son and nephew of two NFL DL stalwarts of the last generation, Kris Jenkins.
No. 94- Kris Jenkins - Age 22 - Senior - 6’3 - 299 - Michigan - 4.91
Jenkins presents us with two of our favorite draft commandments as reminders.
Thou Shalt Not scout by looking at college helmets. Don’t do it.
Look, I get it. Taco Charlton and Mazi Smith have made you want to unsubscribe to any idea of taking a Michigan Wolverine defensive lineman. But, I want to counter with Aidan Hutchinson and Rashan Gary. LaMarr Woodley and Brandon Graham. I mean, maybe the Cowboys are just taking the wrong ones (also, I absolutely have not given up on Mazi Smith. Not even close)? Also, Jeff Tedford QBs couldn’t play in the NFL until Aaron Rodgers proved that silly. Mike Leach and Kliff Kingsbury QBs at Texas Tech were not NFL guys until this Patrick Mahomes character showed up. Let’s actually judge each player on their own merit.
Thou Shalt Not scout according to his family.
We must never assume the son is going to be as good or as bad as his father, uncle, grandfather, or brother. In this case, Jenkins has a dad who was great and an uncle who was close to great at times. Kris Jenkins and Cullen Jenkins were special football players and if this kid has their career, whoever takes him will be pretty happy. But, still, that isn’t how this works. He is his own guy.
