2024/25 English Premier League Preview
Peter Welpton returns to prepare us for the 380 matches ahead in this brilliant league.
In an effort to feed the soccer monster inside my head, I want Sturmstack to be a place that will offer up some additional reading for those who join me in following world soccer on a limited, but enthusiastic basis. I love the English Premier League as much as I could possibly love a sports league in a foreign land. It is my weekend morning companion and has been since the year 2000.
The truth, though, is I know my club very well (Liverpool) and probably about 5-6 other clubs (Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Newcastle), I know pretty well. The rest of the league? I am a full casual. So, for a season preview – that doesn’t actually publish before the season technically has begun – is best left to a soccer buddy, Peter Welpton. He is more than capable of following 20 clubs at a time (despite his Manchester United addiction) and does so on the Ticket every Saturday and in his life every day. So, since I have the space here at Sturmstack, I like to commission Peter to write a few pieces a year to enhance our soccer brains. If you like it, let him know. If you don’t want to read soccer pieces here, don’t!
Without any further ado, here is Peter’s best soccer preview:
Thanks Bob, for asking me again to do this, and I hope P1’s will tune into The KickAround (Saturdays 2-4 on The Ticket) or via the podcast throughout the season (links found at theKickAround.com).
This was written before the season began, and with so much time still left in the transfer window a lot could change for several of these teams. There’s not too much mystery as to how this season is going to play out. Bottom line, way too much of what is likely to determine big chunks of this season are all off the field matters.
Here is a look at each of the 20 Premiership Clubs:
