'25 Draft Film Study - Texas RB Jaydon Blue
Cowboys wanted juice at the skill positions and Blue will have a chance to provide it.
For the next month, we will grab a different Day 3 Cowboys draft pick and break him down with his very own film study about once a week. I see no reason to be in a big hurry as Cowboys camp is a long ways off, so let’s give each one their own day.
This week, it is 5th round RB Jaydon Blue. We certainly know his work, but I wanted to dive into him as thoroughly as possible.
No. 23 - Jaydon Blue - Age 21 - Jr - 5’9 - 196 - 4.28 - Texas
2nd percentile hand size!
Here were some interesting numbers from Warren Sharp:
4.28 40 at pro day - #1 in class
73% of rush yards were after contact - #1 in class
4.0 yds after contact/rush - #4 in class
3.4 YPC when hit at/behind LOS - #1 in class
25% target % - #2 in class
lined up in slot on 16% of routes - #1 in class
Native of Houston where he played at Klein Cain HS. There he ran the 100 and 200m and was a 4-star recruit that committed to Texas as class of ‘22.
Very limited play in his first two seasons and started just 5 games at Texas.
His 2024 was much more expansive and he had five games of over 100 yards of total offense and then declared for the draft.
2022 - 16 snaps, 1 missed tackle, 26 yards after contact, 0 fumbles - 55.1 PFF
2023 - 98 snaps, 12 missed tackles, 129 yards after contact, 1 fumble - 77.1 PFF
2024 - 378 snaps, 36 missed tackles, 394 yards after contact, 4 fumbles - 74.8 PFF
For the study, we used Arkansas, Clemson, and Ohio State.
