3 Thoughts - Mavs Look Too Thin in Game 2
In a huge moment to respond, Mavericks made too many mistakes to have a chance.
Better does not mean good enough.
The Mavericks played a significantly better Game 2 on their business trip to Boston, but that probably doesn’t say much about the way they played in Game 1. We knew they would respond much better and they did. It just wasn’t nearly enough as they fell again to the Eastern Conference Champions by a final of 105-98 on Sunday at the TD Garden.
They now trail in the Best of Seven NBA Finals by two-games-to-zero and will have to answer quickly in Dallas in Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Friday lest this series doesn’t make it to Father’s Day. In other words, they have probably used their mulligans already and they will need some wins quickly.
Either way, these are My Three Thoughts-
–This game was about showing you can compete with a team like Boston and for large swaths of the game, they did. They were led by their superstar and talisman, Luka Doncic who put on quite a show in the 1st half and did exactly what he needed to do – which is punish anyone who thinks they can guard him one-on-one. He was devastating early and scored nearly every time he wanted to and Boston began to try different ideas in a hurry.
