Cowboys Pregame Three Thoughts for Week 15
Dallas with a rare trip to Buffalo to keep chasing playoff home game opportunities. But to get there they will have to take down one bad dude.
The great thing about having a relevant season of Cowboys football is that each game is starting to feel more important than the one before. Last week, we started by talking about how everything has led to this:
Here we are. The anticipation for this game, in particular, has been very high for quite a while. Dallas has known that to finally to begin to appear on the league’s radar of contenders, this is the type of game they simply must get.
They won that game going away and with authority. So, we put that one on the shelf and now we see them move on to the next one.
When you see “at Buffalo” on the schedule in the spring, you cringe just bit. Then, you see that the league puts your trip to Buffalo up there around the Holidays and you brace for what Mother Nature might bring to this thing. You wonder if this is a game you must attend – if you are the type to ever hit the road with your favorite football team. And you wonder if your boys have the stones to walk into that hostile territory and knock out a team that many thought could win the Super Bowl.
We are here and the folks at Fox have been rubbing their hands together. This is yet another contest that will do the huge numbers because who won’t want to gather by the fireplace and watch this one?
For Dallas, it is yet another chance to show the football universe that you are more than allowed to have your takes about “this Cowboys team is the same as all the rest of them,” but do it at your own risk. Because the 2023 version looks like they have designed a bigger, faster, stronger version than they have had in a long time.
Dare I say, this year looks like it could be different.
These are my Cowboys PreGame Three Thoughts:
When Dallas has the ball:
– The Cowboys must prepare for a pretty long day at the office where for the first time in weeks, offense and points will likely not come easy. Keep chipping away at the task at hand and do not let frustration make your job more difficult.
This general point above may be difficult to articulate, but there are negative effects to winning games too easily. Before long, you are chasing numbers and not staying on the task of simply out-scoring your specific opponent on this specific day.
