Cowboys Pregame Three Thoughts for Week 8
A third straight opponent from California is on the schedule, this time in Arlington.
Let’s be honest this morning – this one is going to be short. The World Series has taken our free time and I have two youth soccer games in Houston in the next two days, so I won’t even be watching this game until 8 or 9pm on Sunday Night. Dad stuff!
But, its all good. The Cowboys have another game to play and with just two losses, they aren’t far at all from where they want to be heading into November if they can take care of business on Sunday at noon against their old friends, the LA Rams.
If you are young, you may not know how far back these teams go, but the old-timers definitely know. Since we “leave no #SturmStack readers behind”, let me show you really quick that the Cowboys have played in 66 playoff games in their history – which is a ton. In fact, that is still the most in NFL history. 66!
And of those 66, who is their most common playoff opponent?
It is tied. The San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams with nine each.
That’s right. The Rams! Nine times.
In fact, in both 1976 and 1979, they played in two playoff games in the same calendar year. The 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, and 1980 seasons featured the collision course of these two franchises.
So, yes, they are old friends/foes.
