Cowboys Pregame Three Thoughts for Week 16
Christmas Eve in Miami presents a chance for Dallas to get back on their horse.
The best thing about getting knocked on your butt in this league is that in most every case – and every single case in the regular season – your chance at redemption and turning everything around is seven days away. In fact, Jayron Kearse literally just said it himself, "They embarrassed us last week, plain and simple. We have to get out there and redeem ourselves."
He is right. They badly need to do so.
Well, this one, is going to challenge the Dallas Cowboys in many ways and we should definitely not expect it to be easy. Miami, in many ways, resembles Dallas to a lot of people. “AFC Dallas” needs a signature win in the worst way as they have 10 wins against teams without much quality. The best win is surely their win over Denver that broke the scoreboard and set records, but at the time, Denver was losing to everyone.
Otherwise, there is nobody approaching a league power.
Meanwhile, Miami’s four losses are against Buffalo, Kansas City, Philadelphia, and then their stink-O loss is against Tennessee. They have cynics galore.
Somehow, Las Vegas has suggested this game is actually a full “pick ‘em” which surely has to be an insult to Miami after Buffalo just destroyed the Cowboys.
These are my Cowboys PreGame Three Thoughts:
– Dallas has not lost back-to-back games since November 2021. That is an enormous streak that tells us quite a bit about the spine of the Cowboys operation. They respond well to adversity and get back on the winning track immediately. But, the schedule makers decided to hit them hard with this assignment.
In a season where the San Francisco 49ers (from Oct. 8 until Nov. 12) and Philadelphia Eagles (from Nov. 26 until at least Dec. 25th) have each put together long spans of time without a win, we can see how bad vibes can compound and snowball. But, just like when he was in Green Bay, Mike McCarthy’s teams have an identity of not stringing losses together very often.
Miami is determined to destroy that statistic and Dallas is determined to preserve it. Obviously, something has got to give.
