Draft Profile - Wisconsin's Tanor Bortolini
The Badger-Cowboys center connection will be tested with Bortolini's rise up boards.
Today is the day we fully wrap up the #Sturm60 with our final few guys and I want to make sure we have a feel for the top 6 at center, in case the Cowboys need to chase one in Round 2 or 3. If that is the case, I wanted to make sure we looked at Wisconsin’s center and versatile OL man, Tanor Bortolini:
No. 63 - Tanor Bortolini - Age 21 - RS JR - 6’4 - 303 - Wisconsin
Bort is another from the Wisconsin conveyor belt and between Al Johnson, Bill Nagy, Travis Frederick, and Tyler Biadasz, Dallas has had pretty much nothing but Wisconsin centers for two decades or so. That said, we don’t believe in drafting universities, so whether you are talking Michigan or Wisconsin, our helmet biases need to be ignored.
Bortolini has played for four years for that university and what is interesting about his time at Wisconsin is that he played up and down the line until 2023 when he replaced Joe Tippmann (Pick No. 43 in the 2023 draft to the NY Jets) at center and put himself on this draft map. So, four years of playing, but until this year he was seen as a guard and probably could play there again if need be, but I really enjoyed his 2023 at center.
