If there was a moment to scream in the recent history of the Dallas Stars, I think 95% of us would immediately point at the Mikko Rantanen Game 7 hat-trick against his former Colorado mates that we all enjoyed last May 3rd.

And we aren’t wrong by taking the most common answer because of the absurdity of it all coming true in what seemed like the NHL script-writers’ finest work.

The other 5% might just be looking too hard, right? Now, I can’t blame them. Because there have been some other great moments in these last three runs to the Western Finals. The Stars have done a ton of winning on their way to the lofty heights of running into the same brick wall in the league semi-finals. It takes a lot of work to be that good and a lot of guys being part of the joy with excellent play. Keep knocking on the door and it will eventually break open, you would think.

But, how can this other moment below finish 2nd to anyone? This would be the other significant choice which occurred in the very next round. It ended a Game 6 against those Winnipeg Jets and it still gives chills as Overtime series-winners are moments that stand the test of time.

Thomas Harley, ladies and gentlemen:

What a memory!

Inside that moment was a clue as to why we should be excited to lock in to the future of Harley. The moment where Miro hands the puck (or the baton) to Harley and goes to rest and the two switch shifts. One goes to the bench to rest. The one resting takes over and the quality remains high. The Stars have two guys now and for the future and this gives them a chance to do a lot of wonderful things in May and June.
