Kyrie is the Answer to Both Mavericks Questions

There are two compelling questions and Kyrie Irving is at the heart of them both.

I think Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks are at a very fascinating part of their stories. Every time I spend time with them, it always comes back to those two entities tied together.

If both athlete and franchise had played their cards differently, their paths don’t cross like this. But regrets, they’ve both had a few.They both have tried to do it their own way and found that they had painted themselves into corners that they did not expect to reside in. And, as sports will happen sometimes, these strange bedfellows have found each-other.

Irving is 31 and closing fast on 32. At different times in his story, he has angered three very important portions of the basketball universe by making self-serving (what other kind are there in pro sports?) and often befuddling decisions when asking for three separate divorces from Lebron James, the Boston Celtics, and the entire NYC metropolitan area.

If you were to show a map of the NBA world and throw giant fences around those three groups, you would need a lot of fence. They constitute three huge lobbies in the NBA political system. If you anger any of them, try not to anger all three.
