Morning After Wk 18 - The End of This Road
The 2024 season ends with yet another home loss in a season that never felt right.
I suppose the lasting memory of 2024 was probably appropriate, given the details of the season.
Terry McLaurin leaps high over DaRon Bland – a defender who has his back to the throw – and two-hands a high-pointed fade to turn a 3-point Cowboy lead into a 4-point loss on the final play.
It would be the final play from scrimmage of the 2,230 plays that created the 2024 Dallas Cowboys season.
And the play would symbolize what happened. Dallas tried hard, maybe even their best, to defeat their opponents, but in the end the Cowboys just weren’t good enough.
They lost ten of the seventeen games they played in this 2024 season and seven of their nine home games. Heck, add in the preseason game and last year’s January date at home that turned out to be the big loss that set all of this into motion, and a Cowboys fan could have entered this stadium eleven times in the last 365 days for their Dallas Cowboys habit and investment and left with a smile of victory just twice. I will try not to calculate the dollars required to attend 11 Cowboys games, the PSL payments, and parking as well, but let’s just say the dedicated fan did not get much bang for their buck when it came to the last year of Dallas Cowboys football.
Surely, this year has taken its toll on the Cowboys' leadership. They must be ready to make some significant changes in how things are done and are determined to never let you – the loyal customer and fan – down again. They will study their wrong decisions and strategies, hold those responsible to account, and put fresh, new minds in charge to demonstrate both internally and externally that the standard is much higher than this, and this will not be allowed to happen again! Right?
Just kidding.
