For particularly big games, and when the schedule allows, the Dallas Stars will get the Three Thoughts treatment here at #Sturmstack. I regret that this is the first time I have been able to make it happen, but the new year means its time to get going. So, with Colorado back in town, let’s do this.

The Stars played Game No. 38 tonight at the American Airlines Center in a juicy matchup with those Avalanche – a team that we can very easily claim is, with Vegas, the benchmarks of quality in the Western Conference for the last several years and foreseeable future. There has been plenty to like about the 23-24 Dallas Stars, but also plenty of concerns to wonder about. And the showing in a game like this would either expand or diminish those concerns.

Well, they led the entire night until the Stars three-forward lineup in overtime left Tyler Seguin trying to hold the blue-line against MacKinnon in full flight and it ended very poorly as MacKinnon finished in overtime to bring the Avalanche back with a 5-4, overtime win. Dallas settles for the overtime-loser point.
