My Three Thoughts on Texas A&M vs Arkansas

The Aggies attempt to prove their defense travels to Dallas in Southwest Classic

Three Thoughts, as usual, is a tribute to the late, great Grant Wahl. Here I offer you less than 1,000 words, but my best summary of my trip to AT&T Stadium today to see this rivalry.

Less than a month ago, we were pondering the feasibility of a buyout of Jimbo Fisher’s contract. Now, with back-to-back destructions of SEC West opponents, they have put their 2023 back on track with a comfortable 34-22 win over Arkansas.

These are my three thoughts:

• This defense finally looks like what we were told it was going to be. If I may go back a few weeks when Miami was picking the Aggies defense apart at will, it felt like it was time to stop declaring how stout this defense was. Basically, since Mike Elko had left for Duke, the hype far exceeded the reality. For instance, in 2022, they were 14th out of 14 in the SEC in rushing yards allowed at 209 a game!
