NFL Draft Profile - Houston's Patrick Paul
If you can wait for him to develop as he has room to grow, he has high potential.
Our 52nd profile in the Sturm 60 will be a guy that we have grown to really love. Patrick Paul from Houston is a very unique story and during the Senior Bowl week, I confess that I was pretty smitten with his personal path and vision of his future. If you have the time, seeing his interview might demonstrate why I have been somewhat influenced by outside forces, such as his charm. He is quite a human.
No. 76 - Patrick Paul - Graduate - Age 23 - 6’7 - 330 - Houston
He is a young man from Nigeria who actually lived over there for a few years and has a grandfather who was once the president of the entire nation. He aspires to someday change that country for the better when he is done with football, but already has plans on how his paycheck can help better his people back home.
He was certainly a late bloomer as a high school player and did not have many opportunities at first, but that turned into Houston’s gain and he played about 3,000 snaps for the Cougars – all at left tackle. As I said, he turned my head with his potential at the Senior Bowl and many of his reps can be seen here.
