NFL Draft Profile - Michigan's RB Blake Corum
After a fairy tale college career, Corum now tries to find his perfect fit on Sundays.
We continue to roll through what I think is a pretty underrated RB class that seems to verify what my buddy Dane Brugler said a few months back. There may not be anyone up top, but there is quite a group between 50 and 100 that should be in strong demand. Today, we chat about another one, Michigan’s well known Blake Corum.
No.2 - Blake Corum - Age 23 - Senior - 5’8 - 205 - 4.53 - Michigan
Corum was the main character – once we get past the head coach and the now famous assistant coach in a certain scandal – in the Wolverines dream season and national championship. It begins with him opting out of the 2023 draft because of unfinished business after a knee injury to end 2022 as he declared he was staying to win a national championship for a school that had gone a while since winning it all. He didn’t want to go out like that.
And, I’ll be darned if he didn’t pull it off. He instantly became a folk hero in those parts and any college football fan had to admire his body of work.
But, as far as a pro prospect, we do start with a few realities. First, he is going to be 24 years old during his rookie season. When we are sorting through these guys, we may look for tiebreakers and with a few guys who are still 20 years old, those 42 months can help a team decide.
