Pregame Thoughts Wk 8 - This Is "Prove It" Sunday
Dallas thinks it can go on a run, but Denver stands in the way. Let's see what you got, Cowboys.
10,862 days.
That is the length of time it has been in the wilderness for the Dallas Cowboys since they last tasted victory in a Super Bowl.
If you are a subscriber of this newsletter – and I thank you kindly – you know this because I cannot let the burden of 10,000 days (and counting) ever fully leave the conversation.
It is at the heart of every thought and every idea and every frustration about Dallas Cowboys football.
How could this once proud organization allow 10,000 days to pass without even a bid into the game where if you win that game you get to go to the actual championship game. No final fours, no final twos, and definitely no trophy nor parade.
The burden gets heavier and weighs on everyone who carries it. It fuels everything.
But, there is an even longer drought that is certainly not worried about and never talked about (until today). The reason is that this is more trivia, but again, if you read and know me, you know this is the type of thing that I cannot resist fixating on a small bit.
It is the drought since the Dallas Cowboys have beaten the Denver Broncos.
That one is 11,002 days.
Or, perhaps you are interested in the drought since the Cowboys last won in Denver in a regular season game.
That one is 12,010 days.
It has been 32 years, 10 months, and 20 days by Sunday since the Cowboys were able to pull a win out of Mile High Stadium (long since demolished) and board the plane back to Dallas feeling good about themselves.
