Rangers Attempting To Bring Back Boom
The overview of the 2025 Rangers is mostly about mashing like it was 2023 again.
I realize a periodic Texas Rangers write-up here at SturmStack is a bit rare in this post-2023 universe (where we wrote about them nearly every day for five weeks), but one small effect of the Dallas Mavericks losing a great deal of our attention is that there is more for the Stars and Rangers to pick up here this spring.
I also realize that I write less about baseball because I probably know less. Oh, sure, I can talk baseball history with most, but the details of this great sport require that those writing about it are deep in it. When I read Jamey Newberg, Evan Grant, or even Joe Posnanski, I quickly realize they are seeing a different game than I am – even when we are standing right next to each-other. So, I love baseball, think about it a great deal, but I don’t know baseball like those guys. They know it.
But, I do want to share my Rangers thoughts here when the mood strikes and I want to hear yours. Newberg and I will collaborate and, like I said, I surely won’t be thinking about the NBA playoffs like we did last spring. So, be ready for some periodic Rangers dropping without warning.
This one is a pretty big one. Because there is no doubt about the biggest issue the Rangers face in 2025 – and it is not the all-new bullpen or the fragile balance of keeping the rotation arms healthy.
Instead, to understand the issues in ‘24 and thereby ‘25, you have to wander back to the dream season of ‘23.
