Sturm 60 Rewind: '22 - WR George Pickens
Cowboys get aggressive to go find the WR2. Here is what I thought on his Draft Day.
The Cowboys traded for George Pickens today. Also today, I am traveling to my daughter’s college graduation. So, in time, I will have this properly covered and broken down for you. In the meantime, here is my profile on him for the Sturm 60 in the 2022 draft where I was a massive fan of his potential upside and gave him a pretty glowing review.
(This is entirely taken from our annual Sturm 60 Draft Project and was his profile as it was written on April 14, 2022 in the Athletic.)
George Pickens — Georgia — 6-3 – 195 – Jersey No. 1
George Pickens was a five-star and the top recruit in the state of Alabama in the class of 2019 and the fourth wide receiver in his class (well above Jameson Williams and Treylon Burks) and while he originally committed to Auburn, he flipped to Georgia on signing day. He became a force immediately as a freshman for the Bulldogs and was on the fast track to the top of Round 1 until he suffered an unfortunate ACL injury in March of 2021 during Georgia’s spring football. He was determined to rush back to recover and return to play in the final few games of their national championship run a few months ago.
