Sturmstack Business Meeting: Offseason Plans
Helping you know what to expect and to come as our newsletter hits "other" season.
It has been several months since I received word that I was no longer needed at The Athletic. On June 12, 2023 my email, google docs, and Slack access was cut off as if I never existed. Like the rest of the world, I finally found out what it was like to be fired by an employer.
I’m not mad. In fact, all I could think of was Dril’s tweet on this matter:
It didn’t take me long to discover this new place and new world where I can write whatever I want to write. The trouble with that, of course, is time in the day and the rest of my life.
Another side road, by the way, has been the discretion needed to not send too many items to your mailbox each week. I did not anticipate it because I just figured if I send you stuff you don’t have time or interest for, you would just delete it.
I am not trying to cause anxiety in anyone who is busy and this seemed like an obvious cure, especially since every subscriber has access to all the archives if they change their mind. But, amazingly, when several people have cancelled over the last few months, they have stated it is partially because I have thrown too much content out there.
I did not anticipate this problem, but it does make me smile.
The good news is that our community has grown wonderfully and we have absolutely taken flight by building since we opened in August. So much so that somehow #SturmStack is now the seventh biggest sports Substack on the planet! Incredible and I am very, very thankful that you have chosen to join and consider myself responsible to make sure I please the majority of this ever-growing group a majority of the time.
