The 2024 Sturm 60 - We Form the Stack.
Ranking our profiles from the very top to the very bottom, we go from 1-60 for you.
It is finished and done. I am happy to report that the 59th and 60th evaluations of draft prospects were completed on Saturday – a full five days before the 2024 Draft and a full four days before my flight to Detroit.
Now, it is possible that some are not overly familiar with the Sturm 60 project that has been happening for a decade now, and that is okay. But, rather than explaining it all from square one, allow me to leave you some reading from the last time I did explain it all here:
That should help you sort it out pretty well.
I definitely deviated on this year’s list because we have a new writing home, and I have zero bosses (but you all) to tell me what to do. Given that most of you are most interested in your future Dallas Cowboys, I made the controversial decision to eliminate those who have no chance of being Cowboys. I also plan on an equally controversial decision to still do the QBs after the draft but before they play a down so I do have something on the historical record about Michael Penix and Jayden Daniels. It seems a worthy summer project.
That said, most everyone on this following list is a player who might be considered by the Cowboys at a pressing position of need if they fall right. I really focused on the players who fit the Cowboys best, and this year, it seems clear that the Cowboys' biggest needs are:
Offensive Line (C, LG, LT) - 22 profiles
Defensive Line (DT, Edge) - 13 profiles
Running Back - 9 profiles
Linebacker - 5 profiles
And perhaps a few high-end DBs. - 11 profiles
And there you have it. 60 in total.
Each of these 60 got the 200 snap/3 game treatment and I tried to properly give them grades in the following tiers:
High 1st: A top-10 pick.
Round 1
Round 1-2 (Roughly picks 25-45)
Round 2
Round 2-3 (Roughly picks 55-75)
Round 3
Round 4
Now, a few quick things before I do what several of you have asked me to do, which is to rank them 1 to 60.
This is not a mock draft, nor is it a ranking of how I expect them to get picked. This is also not going to be the same for 32 teams. This is how I rank them in my evaluations while thinking about how the Dallas Cowboys play football and how they might fit. The idea here is for me to put them in groups based on how their early careers will go. Those guys at the very top are guys I expect to be great pros immediately, and the guys down at the bottom might require time and patience. These are all pros to even be considered for evaluation; the consensus likes them. I just want to study them personally and figure out where they fit in order.
So, until now, I have not re-graded any players based on new information, nor have I stacked them inside a designation – Bob, if you have 12 “1st round” grades, how do they fit within that stack?
Well, I will tell you, this type of specificity is probably getting a bit too deep in the weeds, but it is Monday Morning of Draft Week, so let’s do it.
Today, I try to stack the Sturm 60 from 1-60 and see where it takes us.
Here, we go:
