Three Thoughts - Avs Respond And Extend
Game 5 was the easy path, but on the road to a Stanley Cup, the path is seldom easy.

They ruined the celebration and now we have to find out whether it was delayed or cancelled.
The swing of emotions in the playoffs are severe and leave for some quiet exits from home arenas. Four out of five games in this series have been won by the road team. That pairs well with the Vegas series where four of the first four were also won by the road team.
Home ice advantage?
The thing about this series with Colorado is there have not been many swings. Dallas grabbed hold of this series and threatened to end it quickly and decisively and that did not seem a possibility when dealing with the Avalanche’s substantial top-end talent. When would they answer?
Wednesday Night. For on Wednesday Night, the top-end guys for the Avalanche were outstanding and made enough plays to let everyone know they are certainly not dead yet. The Colorado win in Game 5, 5-3 in Dallas, assures us that there will be more hockey to be played back in Denver on Friday Night. Game 6 is definitely most necessary.
These are My Three Thoughts:
–I might be guilty of thinking the Avalanche had collapsed upon themselves and would be submissive in Game 5. I might have expected the game to end in a handshake line by the time everyone was dismissed into the North Texas night. I was wrong and the Avalanche are very much still alive. The Avs needed their best two players, in particular, to go get them a road win to keep their heart beating and full marks to Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon, because they were both on top of their games in this one.
