Three Thoughts - Mavs Drop Painful Gm 3
Boston withstood the storm, took over, and held on late in pretty wild night at AAC.
I certainly am one to use the cliche that a series does not truly begin until the home team loses a game. But, the issue with that truism is often, then we are actually suggesting that a series begins and ends at roughly the same time.
If the series started tonight, it also ended.
Dallas tried to make a valiant stand in Game 3 in front of a crowd that was determined to carry their end of the bargain, but as the Mavericks performance fizzled, so did the arena and in the end, the Boston Celtics proved to be too much again. Even without Kristaps Porzingis, the Celtics continue to come in waves and ultimately use a massive 3rd Quarter to win, 106-99, in a game that has given Boston a 3-0 lead and they will have four shots to win their 18th championship, starting on Friday in this best-of-seven series.
These are My Three Thoughts:
–The opportunities were there for Dallas to take control of the game on more than one occasion, but a wild night was made wilder when Luka Doncic took his 5th and 6th fouls just 26 seconds apart and was disqualified with 4:12 to go and a 93-90 Celtics lead. And with that, it felt like any shrinking chance at coming back into the series had finally fully disappeared.
I am just perplexed with how Luka allowed himself to be lost in his emotions tonight with everything on the line. No, I am not blaming everything on the guy, but this is right there with Jamie Benn losing his mind last spring and taking his team completely out of the Western Conference Finals with a momentary lapse of reason. How does this happen? Apparently, it isn’t hard when emotions are high.
