Three Thoughts - Mavs Make Clippers Tap
Over two weeks, Dallas proved that Los Angeles does not have enough to keep up.
The Dallas Mavericks are advancing to Round 2 of the 2024 NBA Playoffs because, after Game 1 in this best-of-seven series, there was no question that they were the better basketball team.
They defeated the Clippers in four out of five games and narrowly missed out on the fifth. Their 114-101 victory in Game 6 was yet another example of Los Angeles being the higher seed but struggling with injuries and approaching the end of an era, resulting in insufficient firepower.
These are My Three Thoughts:
– Kyrie Irving’s ability to take over playoff games and find a level of play that simply cannot be stopped is absolutely incredible. He waits and then hits the gas when it is needed and has done it now in all three home playoff games. It is the perfect compliment to Luka Dončić on those nights when Luka has some struggles. Game 6 needed all of the explosion that Kyrie could offer after halftime and once again, he did not disappoint.
