Three Thoughts on Astros at Rangers, Gm 4
Houston grabs another game in Arlington, because that's what they always do.
Three Thoughts on any and all playoff games for DFW’s teams is one mandatory feature of #SturmStack. In tribute to our Substack leader, the late Grant Wahl.
The Houston Astros continued to terrorize everyone in their path on their visits to Arlington. The offensive onslaught continued in their 10-3 win in Game 4 of the ALCS. The series is now tied at 2-2, with a pivotal Game 5 on Friday afternoon.
These are my Three Thoughts:
1. We talked about the importance of a fast start for the Rangers and they didn’t listen. Credit the Astros for this, they took advantage of the opportunity of batting first and never trailed.
A quick note about my situation yesterday: as we get done on the radio about 7 pm and then I have a roughly 24-minute ride home. My only thought on Thursday was that I was hoping the Rangers could at least let me get in my front door before they were trailing by multiple runs in Game 4. With the first pitch scheduled for 7:03 pm, it seemed reasonable. That would mean that Andrew Heaney had at the very least had gotten through the first inning unscathed.
Instead, he was beaten up in the top of the first. Jose Altuve started the game and doubled over the third-base bag. Mauricio Dubon then singled. Alex Bregman tripled and it is 2-0 at 7:07 pm. Yordan then ropes the first pitch into center and it is 3-0 by 7:08 pm. I had not even made it to 114 yet. Heaney was pulled minutes later.
