Three Thoughts on Rangers at D-Backs, Gm 3
The Rangers undefeated road record in these playoffs keeps marching on.
The Texas Rangers made a three-run third inning stand up for the rest of the evening with contributions from all over the roster as they secured a 3-1 win in Game Three of the best-of-seven World Series. The win puts them back in front of the Arizona Diamondbacks with Game Four to be played Tuesday Night in Phoenix.
These are my Three Thoughts:
– The World Series is going to require the Rangers to go through all sorts of walls and around all sorts of obstacles, but Monday seemed to push them even further to their limits. They responded with a win.
Resilience is this club’s most charming attribute, it seems. They keep getting back off the mat and getting on with its next challenge. They don’t stay down long and they don’t pout. It could be that they take on the personality of their manager or their leadership, but whatever the reason, they grind and figure out a way. It is an awesome way to show the world what you are all about. You just keep marching on, no matter the circumstances.
So, when the Rangers lost Max Scherzer to another health situation, they just go get Jon Gray to come back and save them. Gray, as you recall, was rolling right along in a start in Anaheim in late September when he was pulled for a wrist/forearm issue that caused him discomfort. From there, he ended up on the injured list and from September 25th until October 27th, he only pitched once – in a low leverage situation in a game against Houston. But, his work on the 27th was in Game 1 of the World Series and his work that day restored the faith in his chances to contribute. Would he start Game 4? Maybe.
