Three Thoughts - Robo Busts Out in Gm 3
Just when the Stars looked up a creek, Roope returns and Robertson starts scoring.
Stop me if you have heard this one.
Dallas starts a game very slow and looks overmatched. Then, something flips the switch and they are able to crawl back into the game before ultimately making the final play or two to secure the result.
It happened in Game 6 in Denver.
It happened in Game 2 vs Edmonton.
Now, it has happened a third time in Alberta on Memorial Day Night.
They just can’t start fast, but they hang in there and crawl back to win. It is a great trick, as long as it works. I would try not to make it a habit, but perhaps the idea that this team is never dead is the best takeaway.
Regardless, they continued to mow through these incredibly difficult road games with a huge 5-3 win in Edmonton in Game 3 on Monday Night. After being thoroughly dominated in the 1st period, they ended the game with a 5-1 advantage over the last 40 minutes and now take a series lead at two-games-to-one heading into Game 4, also in Edmonton, on Wednesday Night.
These are My Three Thoughts.
–Jason Robertson has weathered plenty of criticism recently – especially from this #SturmStack place that he has surely never heard of – but his response in Game 3 will be long remembered as a potential turning point in his playoff career. His hat trick of huge goals in this road win might have helped save a season and certainly filled him with tremendous amounts of confidence that he can do what needs to be done this time of year.
