Three Thoughts - Stars Make Their Stand.
In critical Game 5, Stars show that desperation and the big boys come through.

All day long, we asked for the Stars to respond. We weren’t alone, of course, because the architects of this hockey team were rightfully concerned. They tried to assemble a very deep team that had lots of options to put the puck in the net. They didn’t have a superstar or two like Colorado, but they had an awful lot all-stars and it shouldn’t be this difficult to find goals in the playoffs.
But, it was. The big guns were coming up with nothing. They had to get production on Monday Night or the golf courses would be calling. One-and-done would be such a sad way to end 2024-25. The depth was coming through but the high-end was not.
In fact, one solitary Avalanche star was smoking them by himself. There had to be a brave response or it was going to be the end.
Respond they did.
Dallas won Game 5 by a score of 6-2 on Monday and will now assure themselves of two shots to close out the Avalanche for the 3rd time in six seasons.
These are my Three Thoughts:
The bottom line in this one is that the Stars had to bring it like they had yet to bring it in the series. They had to score first, hold a lead, answer the bell, withstand adversity, and get some production to help out their depleted defense and their goaltender who is doing all they can.
Credit where credit is due. They did just that and were able to get it done.
