Top DFW athlete under-25 has new man up top
With great players aging out, what does Dallas have behind them to take their place?
Since I work at what amounts to a sports bar where people get into sports discussions about things that don’t necessarily matter that much…so as to not get too distracted by the weightier issues of our society that we can’t do too much about even when we want to…
I thought today would be a fun morning to tell you the discussion that I have had in my head recently. You might also hear on the radio soon (perhaps you hear me talk it out in real time)!
The activity is this: last week, Luka Dončić turned 25 on February 28 and that milestone feels like the spot where we can no longer call an athlete “young.”
We must now call them in or entering “their prime” and probably any further ascension is merely fine-tuning the general abilities and talents that we currently see rather than building and creating. Dončić and most every 25-year old is now very close to a finished product and is what he is.
Anyway, for six years running, he has easily been one of the best young athletes in the world, let alone just the NBA, and let alone just in DFW.
And lo and behold, I was asked by a subscriber last week who is the “new best athlete under 25 in DFW?”
Now, that answer seems incredibly easy. For now. Because until May 26, Micah Parsons is easily that answer.
But, then who?
