Love the draft profiles Bob! I've been following the draft since before Norm Hitzges started broadcasting it in 1987. I really look forward to you taking over the conn from Uncle Norm. You'll do great. And uh, again, you'll do great.
Mr. Bob, here's a Friday Mailbag question, or perhaps an idea for a whole post:
It's Wednesday, February 7 and Jordan Montgomery, Cody Bellinger, Blake Snell, and a host of other notable MLB players are still Free Agents. Ohtani was allowed to defer $600+ in salary in a move deal the State of California finds suspicious. The baseball TV deals seem to be hanging by a thread. The A's may (or may not!) be leaving Oakland. And, there was a lockout just two years ago. All of this is happening under the (un?)watchful eyes of Rob Manfred, the guy who let the Astros off easy and called the Commissioners Trophy a "piece of metal."
If it weren't for the Rangers winning the whole damn thing this past November, I might suggest that the state of baseball is bleaker now than it's been in quiet some time. How do you assess the current state of the MLB and it's steward, Rob Manfred?
While on the subject, Bob, do you believe the demise of the regional sports networks will lead to the deflation of baseball salaries?
I have faithfully watched Rangers’ games on Fox Sports Southwest and before that, HSE. I devour lots of written content (my first app on my old flip phone was the Texas Rangers, which has now been absorbed by the MLB app), but since we cut the Direct TV cord for YouTube TV and no longer get the regional broadcasts, I’m not sure I’m willing to pluck down extra money in my retirement years to pay for content I won’t watch every night. Having the games on cable was a great convenience in the summer when reruns and reality shows filled the networks, but there are lots of viewing choices now with all the streaming services. When we first made the switch, I had gotten completely frustrated with the Rangers inability to field a competitive team. My perception was they didn’t really care and kept dithering between doing a full rebuild and trying to make deals that could keep them competitive, but really had no chance.
Last season began with more hope, but after being burned for so many years, it took me deep into the season to really regain the spark that has been there since their inception.
I have a feeling I’m not the only one who has doubts about spending extra money for a product I won’t be using every night. I’m curious to hear the thoughts of other fans.
Also from what I understand, there is no available streaming option to watch the Rangers in this “final” season of the Bally deal. Am I correct, or does anyone even know for sure yet? This lack of options seems like a slap in the face from Ranger management, who didn’t hold fast for more options in their negotiations for a new deal. And our commissioner doesn’t seem to care enough to use his muscle to insure each team has viewing options.
Can you also address Free Agency. Really like to hear your thoughts on CJones, the real Defense MVP this year. He wins games by closing llast drives with a big play.
I want to see the draft content, but don’t need notifications (or emails). Do I need to opt-in or can I get the content at my convenience from Strumstack?
I will judge everyone on here who doesn't sign up for the Sturm60.

I still can't wrap my head around too much content and especially opting out of draft profiles.
It's why I pay the man!

You’re the best, Mr. Sturm.
As always, looking forward to your draft takes! Thank you for this priceless content!!

Absolutely right. It can be accessed on the site whenever.
