I believe Lamb gets signed this season but not Prescott or Parsons. Prescott because of his contract demands and Parsons because it's not time yet. I also believe Jerry would sign Prescott to an extension if he gave Jerry even one little-bitty face-saving inch in the negotiations, but he won't.

Hey Bob,

Just a heads up. You only have 52 on your final 53. Only 3 specialists, so you could add another DB possible?

Also, for the Lamb contract question. You wrote that Lamb would be in Cleveland. I'm hoping that's a typo! LOL

Love your work, sir!

I am relatively certain I have 53, but now you have me confused.

I didn't count the actual players, just was basing it off your 4 specialists but only 3 listed.

ST - (4) Aubrey, Anger, Seig, Goodwin - this is 4 names!

Ah! There it is.

I think what Bob was saying was that Lamb would be playing against Cleveland, on the road, in Week 1.

Unless we’re planning on giving the Browns another one of our best WRs…

I didn't even think about that angle. Good point.

Solid questions this week, and great feedback Bob.

If I recall correctly, Banks was cut after Quincy Carter had a decent half of play in a pre season game. Jerry Jones was fired up and thought Quincy was ready to be the starter.

Regarding the Cowboys playoff meltdowns, maybe Ted Lasso’s sports psychologist is available? She could get Dak back to saying “football is life” again.

Joking aside, I hope Dak is doing something along these lines to avoid tensing up in the big moment.

“Nah. I don’t think there is much to remember about Tony Banks.”

I’ll always remember him for commenting on Dirk’s crazy ex-fiancée Cristal Taylor, as someone who had dated her a decade before.

“But there's a story here that has touched a lot of athletes and could have done some damage."

Having seen the result of two of JJ’s controversial trade maneuvers make the final 53, I wonder about his final input on this 53 on these two players…

1) Trey Lance ——from San Fran for a 4th.

No need to discuss more I guess, understand with his youth & the investment

2) Matt Waletzko— drafted with the 5th pick acquired from Cleveland for Amari Cooper

#2 is most difficult for me. I hope Solari believes he still has untapped potential, and not being put in a position to justify or make something good out of Jerry’s Amari decision. I doubt Jerry ever regrets that decision. He moves on, but he still likely doesn’t see it as the fans who boomed Coop’s name every time he made a play, home or away. Surely he didn’t feel challenged by that display of affection? Probably just the COVID vaccine avoidance and unavailability, plus his final playoff routes.

I haven't seen anything in TL that seems worth taking up a roster spot that could be better used elsewhere. Cut your losses (helloo Jeeeryee) and move on

Everyone loves their team in pre-season, but what remains so frustrating to me about 2023-24 is how relatively weak the NFC seemed for most of the season. No QBs that really scares you (Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc), home field for two rounds, etc. I don’t think anyone would have been heartbroken by a season that ended with a close lose in SF in the NFCCG.

But just making the playoffs seems harder this year. I can’t shake the feeling that they’re using McCarthy’s excellent organizational and player development skills to reset things a bit this year and then look for the true Machiavellian playoff killer of a HC for next year. The DET, @SF, (@ATL), PHI, HOU stretch looks pretty tough, but the back end of the schedule has a lot of potential, so if they are in position to contend in the playoffs near the trade deadline, maybe we see the finishing touches.

I hope they don’t listen to Bones. Cut CJ, he’s taking a spot from DB, WR or LB. Duece and Turpin are gadget guys. Don’t need both. They need to find a way to keep Izzy and Flournoy. And hope they don’t lose some promising TEs , WRs and DBs to get them to PS.

Flournoy is way up my list of guys I'd like to keep, but he is also a guy who you can probably slide through to PS. But, I agree. Goodwin is absolutely a guy you don't need to protect.

I thought Linval Joseph was completely washed based on his performance last year but the film shows otherwise. He looked pretty good. I think it's also wise to use a "quantity" approach when adding these aging, 1-year guys: they've largely proven to be boom/bust in the past and if only one turns out to be a positive contributor it really didn't cost you much. The IDL sure looks a lot better today than a month ago.
