Good Morning on this March 24 for your WBOF (weekly bag of footballs) update on everything Cowboys. And this week, unlike the March 17th edition, has exactly zero transactions of incoming players joining the team. In fact, there is almost nothing new to report in roster building since last time we met.

That means the first wave of transactions is over and we now wait to see what moves – if any – are left before the NFL Draft.

Weekly Cowboys Transactions

🏈 - March 21 - Saints sign Brandin Cooks for 2 years and reported $13 million.

That is the only one. The Cowboys lost another free agent it appeared they had no real interest in keeping and while we don’t know how solid that money is in terms of guarantees and such, we do know that Cooks never really got off the ground as a Cowboys weapon and for that it is viewed as a disappointment.

As you can see below, his yards/game were the two lowest of his career and it never really seemed like they were comfortable using him as a primary vertical weapon. We know time waits for no man, but as opposed to a deep decline, I am somewhat of the belief that he really wasn’t used properly, but we shall see what New Orleans gets.

A few readers told me he was completely washed when the Cowboys made the deal with the (at the time) hapless Texans and I resisted, but the record does show that they can probably score that as a win.

And there you have it! Our weekly transactions list of just one.

Let’s play with the draft simulators!

I know how everyone loves mock drafts, but I have never done them. I think there is usefulness in learning the players in the draft, but there is little usefulness in us guessing who Denver likes if we hardly can figure out who Dallas likes. So, I leave the mocks to those who actually are covering the whole league closely.

But, the simulators? I do find value in them. The simple truth is that when you go through a simulation, you get a sense for how many names will get cleared off before you pick. That one year where CeeDee Lamb falls in your laps is a true exception. The normal rule is that things are going to be picked over and you are going to have some choices that won’t seem quite as exciting to you.

So, let’s do a few of these. I will start with the ProFootballFocus draft simulator. The Cowboys have the 12th, 44th, and 76th picks.

Here we go:
